Looking south towards Ryde town from the southern end of Ryde Pier Head station, Ryde Esplanade station is at the far end of the pier. Due apparently to concerns over the structural integriry of the pier, the track on the left of this photograph is no longer used.
It is interesting to note that there is are no points or signals between here and the far end of Ryde Esplanade station - perhaps the only place on a British main line to have two stations in a single singalling block?
