Looking north from the northern end of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway platform at Smallbrook Junction station. The Island Line platform is behind the fence on the right although it is shorter then IOWSR platform. The wagons appear to be being used as buffers at the end of the headshunt to the runaround loop for the steam railway. The signal on the right is for the Island Line.
The entire purpose of this station, constructed in 1994, is to serve as an interchange between the two railways. There is no road or footpath access so the station is open only when both Island Line and Isle of Wight Steam Railway trains are operating.
