At the west end of the south side of Taunton station, is bay platform 1 that is all-but disused. Originally as can be seen in this photograph it had platform faces on both sides of the track but the right hand (south) side is now wholly disused. Also disused is another bay platform on the other side of the platform block and sidings beyond that. I suspect these saw regular use before the closure of the Minehead and Barnstaple branch lines.
