Ongoing construction work for the new railfreight terminal at Raiths Farm, just
north of Dyce, some 10 km north east of Aberdeen. The passing loop at Dyce
station (behind the photographer) is being extended by about 1 km and new signals
will be required. The sleepers set out ready to take the new track are steel --
extremely unusual in British practice where wood or concrete are preferred.

When out taking pictures of trains you do not anticipate coming across a 'stuffed' dog
on a platform but we did just that at Slough. Not only that he dates right back to the
1890's which must surely make him the oldest and strangest exhibit you are ever likely
to see on a British railway station. Pictured December 2004.

Many things have changed since British Railways were privatised around 1996...but clearly not everything
as this sign pictured in October 2003 shows. BR created Network SE in the late 1980s and it is pleasing to
see that evidence of it is still around today..credit to Chiltern Railways for keeping a bit of our railway history.

Palmers Green on the Hertford North line sits on the brow of Aldermans Hill. It has changed very little externally
since the days of steam and first generation green diesels & DMUs.
Today it presents a very respectable appearence as we return to see the class 40 on its way to London.

UK Railway Station, Surbiton, Surrey. The London and South Western Railway first reached Surbiton in 1838 and the line was opened through to Basingstoke in 1839. The LSWR station at Surbiton was re-sited in 1845. The present station was reconstructed by the Southern Railway in 1938 in a modern transport image consistent with the successful "Southern Electric" and Cunarder image.
