5900_and_6998_Dorridge_15.5.1976. UK heritage steam in the 1960s and 1970s. On 15th May 1976 the Great Western Society (GWS) ran an enthusiasts’ special train from its headquarters at Didcot, to Dorridge, south of Birmingham, and return. The train comprised the GWS’ eight GWR vintage carriages hauled by 4-6-0s No.5900 Hinderton Hall and 6998 Burton Agnes Hall. The engines are seen here upon arrival at Dorridge; they then proceeded to Tyseley museum engine shed for turning and servicing for the return journey. Today, both locomotives remain at Didcot as static exhibits with the hope that they shall one day, be returned to service. roger.griffiths@hotmail.com
