LNER 4-6-2 #4472 Flying Scotsman. In August 1970, #4472 visited Toronto and provided footplate trips up and down the Canadian National Exhibition siding. This is adjacent to the lakeshore mainline of the CNR. 4472 was fitted with front pilot, headlamp and North American whistle. The exhibition train of ex-LNER vans, Pullmans and Mark 1 brake are seen behind it.

The world famous LNER Gresly A3 Pacific number 4472 'Flying Scotsman' was one of the star attractions at the Rail200 Ralifest at the National Railway Museum, York - the new owners of the locomotive.

This was my first attempt at doing a merged view to show the full length of the magnificent loco, but there were so many people around you could barely see the train at all in the other shots!

I took this photo right at the end of the day, as this was the only time it didn't have a huge queue of people waiting to get on the footplate.

4472 'Flying Scotsman' is in full steam as it brings the VSOE through Kensington Olympia in the Autumn of 2001...and we had seen the B1 earlier in the day as well!
