Class A4, and interloper at Crewe being a LNER express engine, it is interesting to note that while A4 Pacific 'Mallard' holds the world speed record, it riva; 'Coronation' Pacific was still accelerating on its record attempt and had to break as it was approaching Crewe, it was still doing a respectable 114mph !
