1306+4472_(7)_Ravenglass_depart_22.5.1976. UK Heritage Steam 1960s and 1970s. During May 1976, LNER Class B1 No.1306 Mayflower worked two trains with LNER Class A3 4-6-2 No.4472 Flying Scotsman, in the English Lake District. A month later the B1 double-headed with LMS Class 5 No.45407 on a rail tour from Carnforth to Leeds and return. 22nd May 1976 Nos.1306 and 4472 have collected their passengers at Ravenglass station and make ready to depart. The B1’s tender is quite empty of coal but that was not a concern as the engine would be replaced at Grange-over-Sands by LNWR 2-4-0 No.790 Hardwicke, to work with 4472, through to Carnforth. roger.griffiths@hotmail.com
