National Coal Board Northumberland Area No.47 (Stephenson & Hawthorn 7849, built 1955) sets off from Whittle Colliery with a train for the exchange sidings in June 1972. The loco was transferred from Backworth at the end of 1971 and looks as if it hadn't been cleaned since. At the end of steam at Whittle it was sold for preservation on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, but has since moved to Peak Rail. Since being preserved it has acquired the name "MOORBARROW".
