Adtranz-built A-491 belongs in the first batch of DE2000 locomotives
delivered to the Greek State Railways (OSE) in 1998, starting with A-471.
After six years of intensive use, these locomotives have started showing
signs of wear, as evidenced in this photo.
Due to the Proastiakos SA getting all the modern DMUs (GTW and Desiro) for the line to the Athens Airport, the commuter traffic between Athens and Halkida is done with loco-hauled trains that use the new 200km-capable IC wagons that were built in Volos (N.Kioleides) and Hungary.
