A tired IC520 class trainset arrives in Athens as train IC47 from
Kalambaka and Meteora in Thessaly. The view is from the classic pedestrian
bridge in Ag.Anargyroi, and in the background one can see the cars passing
the level crossing (the first major crossing) before half a dozen more
until the main Athens station.
The photo is taken at noon, 28 December 2004, and the leaden skies are ready to shower everything in sight. The train ceiling is glinting from some showers it has encountered in its trip already. These venerable DMUs are slowly being bumped off the flagship services with loco-hauled trains and new air-conditioned 200km-capable blue wagons.

Powercar 620 from the Athens-Volos InterCity train rests in the Volos station,
and tomorrow at early morning will return to Athens.
The paint has peeled in the corners of the face of this train, as it can be seen in the photo, and in general the weathering has started taking its toll.

Before renumbering, the standard gauge IC trainsets had a simple 3-digit number.
The power car number is 624, and this 4-car train has just started its
500 km race towards Thessaloniki in late afternoon (14 July 2003).
Photo was rotated/cropped/resized, in order to give a more 'in your face' view of these classic trainsets.
