The second station in Athens have the name "Larissis Station", it's the train station
for the standard gauge trains. When the station was built, the railway line end in
Larissa. Therefore this is the name of the station.

OSE - Greece The station of Aminteo looks a bit oversized with 7 tracks, and only 5 trains to Thessaloniki, 5 to Florina and 3 to Kozani every day! Also freight traffic is very limited. But all tracks have recently been replaced. Aminteo, 28-05-2007 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |

OSE - Greece Alexandroupolis port (main) station seen from the balcony of hotel Erica. Trains from Thessaloniki have to reverse for a few hundred meters to reach this station, as the line only runs directly towards Turkey and Bulgaria and not Thessaloniki and Athens. OSE - Greece Timetables in Alexandroupolis have been written by hand. Therefore it is rather complicated to find correct Greek timetable information on the internet! As you can see, some regional trains have recently been withdrawn by crossing them out. And note that according to this information train 1680 runs to Dikaia while it actually continues to Svilengrad in Bulgaria. Alexandroupolis, 10-10-2010 Digital photo by Marco van Uden |

Athens have two railway stations. The older and more beautiful station is the
Peloponnes station, where the meter-gauge trains to the Peloponnes arrives.
Athens - 27.Oktober 2003 Photo: Dimitrios Koffas (trena@gmx.de) |
