In July HZ (Croatian Railways) signed the contract with Bombardier Transportation for the delivery of 8 diesel tilting trainsets (RegioSwingers). The contract is valued at approximately 32.35 million euro. The trainsets are scheduled to be delivered between December 2003 (the first one for the driver training) and July 2004. The new trains will have 134 seats, 25% of which will be first class. The latest information from the HZ led us to believe that the units will be used on three lines: Zagreb – Split, Zagreb – Sibenik and Zagreb - Zadar. Six trains, some of them composed of two units, will run to Split, one train to Sibenik, and one to Zadar. The estimated travelling time is some 5 hours, and the tickets will sell at 150 HRK (approximately 20 euros), catering included. The services will be called ICN (IC Nagibni – IC Tilting). The tilting trains are scheduled to take over all daytime services between Zagreb and Split from 15th June 2004. Photo: Bombardier & HZ Upload: Toma Bacic
