MÁV diesel-electric shunter M44 050 on the stock of the Orient-Express at Budapest Keleti station, in about 1992. Some 200 of these were built over a 15 year span (1956-71), by Ganz-MÁVAG (Budapest), and some can be found in Slovenia, Poland and Serbia as well. Top speed is 80 km/h, and output: 440 kW. Very occasionally such engines haul Bzmot or MDmot trailers when the motor cars fail. More often they shunt coaches from one train to another in Szolnok and Hatvan and other junctions.
