This loco was made in the Soviet Union, and originally designed for the MAV,
but it has been also exported to other countries, including some RRs in
Asia.
The MAV purchased 288 units from 1965 to 1964. Now there are 185 of them in
service at the MAV (15 of them wide gauge, used at the Ukrainian border)
