MÁV engine M62 270 with electric train heating car on a Budapest-Szombathely fast train, during a station stop. 288 of these engines (nicknamed Sergei) have been supplied by Oktober Revolution Locomotive Works, Voroshilovrgad (USSR) during 1965-79. Many still work freight trains and they can also be found on passenger trains until September, 1998 on the Balatonszentgyörgy-Nagykanizsa line (western Hungary). They work many fast trains on the Székesfehérvár-Szombathely line and occasionally some other trains in the Szombathely-Tapolca areas as well. They seem to be extinct on passenger trains in eastern Hungary, though. Maximum speed: 100 km/h, output: 1472 kW. 3 broad-gauge (Russian 1524 mm) examples can also be found at the border station of Záhony.
