MÁV electric engine V63 030 with the EuroCity train to Frankfurt, photographed at Debrecen station in September, 1997. 56 Such engines were built between 1972-88, by Ganz-MÁVAG (Budapest). Original speed is 120 km/h but some examples have been re-geared to 160 km/h to run international and InterCity trains on the Budapest-Győr-Hegyeshalom line. Power output is 3600 kW. Apart from international and fast trains, these engines work many heavy freight trains as well.
