Budapest Vörösmarty tér station sign

This is the station sign for the southwestern terminus of the Budapest Metro line 1, also known as the Földalatti. This sign shows the entry to the platforms for trains headed to Mexikói út. The Földalatti operates a few meters below the street surface all the way to Mexikói út, except for a short section east of the Mexikói út for trains to turn around and its own depot.

Nearby is the Vigadó which was demolished and is in the process of being rebuilt (as of February 2006 which was my following visit).
