Unidentified UV (series 38xx) type tram on line 69 goes from Újpalota, Erdőkerülő utca to Mexikói út (Kacsóh Pongrác út). Photo taken on 5th September 2002. A few days before the beginning of the reconstruction works on Bánkút utca, and on this curve. After the reconstruction, these cars replaced with newer, TW 6000 (BKV series 15xx) type trams (second-hand from Hannover), so this is one of the last pictures with this type at this place (while the reconstruction was, the tram was shortened to Mézeskalács tér).

3799.jpg (23975 bytes)

The leaders of the Budapest transportation company decided to form an articulated train from the freshly bought UVs in 1962. This was a comlete failure, since four motors of the eight were removed, and the cars could run only extremely slow. Then in 1966 they built back the cars to the original form (today 3258 & scrapped 3235).
