Bologna 15/02/2026. The "Treno del Ricordo" 2026 (Train of Remembrance) is an institutional project promoted by the Italian Minister for Sport and Youth. It honors the victims of the Foibe massacres and the post-WWII Julian-Dalmatian exodus. The 2026 edition—the initiative's third year—journeyed across Italy from February 10 to March 1, 2026. It traveled a national route through 11 cities, starting in Trieste and ending in Siracusa. The train is a historical convoy provided by the Fondazione FS Italiane and the FS Group. It is carefully arranged to serve as a mobile, multimedia museum. In 2026, the train's composition expanded to feature five specific carriages: Carriages 1 to 4 (The Core Exhibition) These four cars house a multimedia display. They feature archival photographs, historical panels, and narration. The displays recount the complex history of the Italians who fled Istria, Fiume, and Dalmatia. Carriage 5 (The 2026 Addition) This fifth carriage was newly introduced for the 2026 edition. It focuses entirely on passing the historical memory down to younger generations.
