You can see, sitting one aside the other a test train with a E402 in front (and soon back the dynamometric car) and one ETR500 (with the E404.001) that is for testing. These are the most recent additions to FS line of locos. Since at Firenze resides the Servizio Materiale e Trazione, that is the engineering offices of the FS, this is a good site for observing new traction stock. On other track the same day (22/8/96) I could see also an ETR470 and an ETR220

Just before the activation of new summer timetable once I could see on all station track nearly all the series of FS ETR: On track 1 a 500 preparing for a test run, on 2 a 250 (preserved unit) on 3 a 460 in regular service, on 7 a 500, on 8 a bicorrent 460, on 9 a 470 while on 4 a few minutes befor the arrival of the 250 had passed a 450. On some spare track was sitting the 500 prototype and an old 220 ... It is luck to pass there daily ...
