880117.jpg (145730 bytes)

FS ALe 880 117, formerly part of ETS 11, private train of Benito Mussolini, stored in Bologna Centrale engine terminal on May 10th, 1992.
This electric railcar was built by FIAT in 1940, at once with a twin unit eventually lettered ALe 880 118, to form a permanently coupled two-unit train for the personal use of the fascist dictator. Formerly equipped with rationalist-style furnishings, in 1950 it was rebuilt from war damage with standard 3rd class wood seats and put into passenger service. It was scrapped in February 1999.
