Luxemburg State Railways Track Maintenance Train.
In september 1986 the track spraying train was first put into service in Luxemburg. Since then it has been used twice a year on the CFL rail network to clean the roadbed. It operates in the forward direction at a speed of 30 km/h with a crew of 4 to operate the spaying equipment, nozzles and pump. A control car and 3 tank cars with control and spraying connections between each other are used together to provide an efficient method of spraying the roadbed. The picture shows the unit at Trois Ponts station (Belgium) during a steam locomotive festival on july 14, 1996. Photo and scan by Stefan Nicolaï (nicolai@uia.ua.ac.be) |
