Tiraspol Railway station, currently out of use due to the conflict with Transnistria over the new customs regime between Moldova and Ukraine.
Passenger trains from Chisinau to Odessa and Ivano Frankovsk are cancelled, other trains like Chisinau-Moscow are diverted via the bordercrossing Valcinet (ŽDM/CFM) - Mogilyv Podilskyj (UZ) in the North-East of Moldova.

Tiraspol Railway station. The civil war in the early 90's destroyed the electric wire. I was arrested by the Transnistrian Railway Police for taking this picture, railway staions are still regarded as "strategic object" in the Transnistrian part of Moldova, where Soviet law and paranoia still applies. Tiraspol railway station, timetable. The timetable shows a lot of trains, but actually only two are running, one Moscow-Chisinau, and one Saratov-Varna train (and this one only runs during summer time). The other trains runned before the Soviet Union collapsed, and since then due to political reasons (the breakaway of Transnistria), they are cancelled (this means the red word "OTMEHEH"=Otmenen on the timetable. As you can see, chisinau had really good connections in the "old days". 11.08.2010
