Metro_Delhi_Nehru_Place.jpg (101766 bytes)

The station Nehru Place on the elevated section of the violet line of Metro Delhi is quite an impressive building, it has been opened 2010. Note the number of CNG autorickshaws on the road. 2013-01-03.

Metro_Delhi_Qutb_Minar.jpg (161406 bytes)

Six-car Bombardier train leaving station Qutb Minar on the yellow line of Metro Delhi towards the south. This line was opened 2004, when the delivery of this type of train also started; the first were imported from Germany (some flown in with an Antonov cargo plane), the rest built in the Bombardier works of India. Unfortunately photography is forbidden in the stations and trains, in some stations they are very strict about that, I still managed to get this Photo. 2012-12-07.

Metro_Delhi_violet_line.jpg (105205 bytes)

Four-car Rotem/BEML train between stations Kalkaji Mandir and Nehru Place of the violet line of Metro Delhi. After the red, yellow and blue lines were built in 1676 mm gauge (the same as the Indian mainline network), the green and violet lines and the Airport Express followed at 1435 mm gauge, causing an incompatibility within the system - maybe to make it easier to buy rolling stock on the world market or to remain independent of Indian Railways? After a rude shout "Photography not allowed!" via the loudspeaker at Kalkaji Mandir station I decided to document the line from a vantage point where I could not be caught ... 2013-01-03.
