Of all the innumerable types and classes of steam locomotives once found in Palestine and Israel, this is all that is left – one small Krauss steamer of the WWI Hedjaz Railway. All the rest were scrapped years ago, leaving not a single steamer behind. In this August 1988 photo, the miraculously saved “? 10” is drying off its fresh coat of black paint in the Haifa sun. This steamer is regarded as the most precious item of the ISR museum stock.
