Wheeled trolley, Nairobi Railway Museum
An example of a wheeled trolley as used in the streets of Mombasa from the 1890s to 1926. There was no other means of transport and most people had one. It was said that officials had right of way over other users and therefore they had to let the officials pass. A comprehensive network of tracks covered the old town and linked the port to all the important places in town including the offices, clubs and banks. There was even a branch line to 'cemetery' with its own trolley. Photo taken Sunday 9 November 2014. Photo: Steffen Mokosch (Steffen.Mokosch@web.de)
