SNCFT - Tunisia
Until a few years ago all trains from Tunis to the south had to run through Sousse,
including some street running over a very busy square. But now a bypass has been
built around Sousse and it is no longer possible to run trains between Sousse
Gare and Sousse Bab-el-Jedid. The former is the end point of trains from Tunis,
the latter the starting point of the "Métro léger du Sahel" electric
trains to Monastir and Mahdia. The track in front of the railway station might
still be used for freight trains to the harbour, but was out of service due to
rebuilding of the platform you can see behind the fences.
