VSM - Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschap collection in Beekbergen NL. A quick stop along the way to have a look to the depot on 03/04/2025. Baggage car D 6087 was built in 1933 by Allan in Rotterdam. It was later re-renumbere D 6720, D 6320 and D 7614 (NVR 51 84 95-40 011-2). After retirement, it stood under a tarpaulin in Beekbergen and Apeldoorn for a long time, waiting for better times. Early 2017, the VSM started the overhaul of this baggage car. The restoration of the baggage car itself takes a long time because work is taking place in addition to the regular work on the other carriages. This baggage space of this car contains, in addition to a side corridor, three lockable spaces made of mesh that were installed in the 1950s. By sealing these spaces by customs, the handling of transit goods at the border could be accelerated. A pipe can be seen over the roof of the baggage car in which the 12-core continuous UIC cable was installed. At the end of 1979, it was decided to install this cable to enable services with the ICR carriages. This cable was needed for the central control of door closing, heating, lighting, public address and the main reservoir line. The overhaul was completed in 2023 and repainted as D 7614.

VSM - Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschap collection in Beekbergen NL. A quick stop along the way to have a look to the depot on 03/04/2025. NS 2019 is a Diesel-Electric loco. This locomotive acquired by the VSM was built by Whitcomb in 1944 with factory number 60388. It was the last locomotive of the second series; he entered service under number 8147. The machine was shipped from the US to Naples to enter service for the Military Rail Service under number 1329. The machine has been used in Italy in all kinds of services, from shunting services to coal trains, often multiple switched with other Whitcombs. Finally the machine returned to the US in the summer of 1945 . Our machine was then sold back to Whitcomb. Whitcomp subsequently rebuilt the locomotive as type 70DE26. The locomotive subsequently served at the Bethlehem steel plant in Lackawanna, near Buffalo. In the 1970s, new engines of the Cummins brand were introduced and the locomotive was made radio-controlled. With the closure of the steel factories, the locomotive became unemployed and available for the VSM, where the locomotive arrived on May 29, 2018. The machine is not roadworthy, in any case a major overhaul is needed, during which the locomotive will be restored in the version as NS 2019, following the original 2000s. For Back to Then 2018, the locomotive was painted in an NS version.

VSM - Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschap collection in Beekbergen NL. A quick stop along the way to have a look to the depot on 03/04/2025. 44-1593 belongs to Class 44 DRG Locomotives. The Class 44 was a ten-coupled, heavy goods train steam locomotive built for the Deutsche Reichsbahn as a standard steam engine class (Einheitsdampflokomotive). Its sub-class was G 56.20 and it had triple cylinders. It was intended for hauling goods trains of up to 1,200 tonnes (1,200 long tons; 1,300 short tons) on the routes through Germany's hilly regions (Mittelgebirge) and up to 600 tonnes (590 long tons; 660 short tons) on steep inclines. They were numbered 44 001-44 1989. The first 10 examples were built in 1926. Not until 1937 were further 44s procured, because by then the rising demands of rail transportation could be better met with a triple-cylinder configuration. From 1926 to 1949, a total of 1,989 locomotives were manufactured. During the Second World War an austerity variant was built with simplified construction and delivery, known as the Class 44ÜK. 44-1593 was built in 1943. After the end of her career she was sold to a private owner, who sold her on to another owner until she finally ended up at VSM in 1997.
