One of the heaviest freight trains in Europe! Four locomotives class 6400 of
the Dutch Railways (NS) haul the 5400 metric tonnes ore train consisting of
German hoppers with automatic couplers from the port of Rotterdam to the German
border (Venlo), where two German electric locomotives will take over. Picture taken in Eindhoven on 23rd May 1997.

NS 6400 Diesel locomotive 6494 seen at Almelo between some other 6400 class locomotives. You can always find a couple of 6400 diesel locomotives at Almelo. Here they do all the shuntingwork, but they are also used to pull Cargotrains.

Till 26th March 2001, the transport of all freight trains between Beverwijk station and the Corus steel plant (Beverwijk Hoogovens Centraal) was carried out by Railion. After that date, most trains were picked up at Beverwijk station by Corus (with own locos and personnel), but some trains are still delivered at Corus by Railion.
Loco 6505 arrives at Beverwijk from Beverwijk Hoogovens to pick up train 54064.

NS - The Netherlands Diesel locomotive 6462 is seen stabled in Amersfoort during the weekend. Normally many locomotives are stabled here on Sundays (mainly class 1600 and 6400) but today only two locomotives class 6400 were present. Amersfoort, 03/03/2002

| NS 6486 speeds through Lage Zwaluwe with a coal train on 18 June 2008 -a scene from the past. The coal trains are nowadays all pulled by a couple of DBS 189s and most take the short-cut on the Betuwe-Route, skipping former cargo hot-spots like Eindhoven, Tilburg, Breda and Lage zwaluwe altogether.
