All Dutch "Sprinter" EMU's are having their midlife revision this year. The new EMU's have a higher maximum speed of 140 km/h and are the first Dutch trains in over almost twenty year that do not have the standard yellow colour. All Dutch "Sprinter" EMU's are having their midlife revision this year. Since the last timetable update in december 2003 these trainsets run all Uitgeest-Haarlem-Amsterdam services. When more units become available new sprinter services will also run on various other trajects. NS - The Netherlands Starting April 1st 2017 the railway line Schiedam-Hoek van Holland will be rebuilt for metro operation, as an extension of the Rotterdam metro system. In the last month of NS operation, Sprinter trainset 2944 has just arrived at end station Hoek van Holland Strand (beach station). Actually only 6 trains a day run up to here, the other trains of the half-hourly service from Rotterdam only run up to Hoek van Holland Haven (port station, next to the Stena Line terminal).
