GVB_Metro_54_Amsterdam-Amstel.jpg (70516 bytes)

GVB Amsterdam metro trainset running on line 54, on the northbound metro track of Amsterdam Amstel station, 1999-08-26 (see clock for time!)

Amsterdam Amstel is a combined train/metro station with four tracks and two island platforms. The NS (train) tracks are on the outer sides, electrified with 1500V= overhead wire. The GVB (metro) tracks are in the centre, electrification is with third rail here.

gvb_oldcars.jpg (63457 bytes)

Older GVB trains stopped north of van der Madeweg. You can see the very small pantograph. I think it is used for shunting in the train yard, or for the train washing machine.

spaklerweg01.jpg (44225 bytes)

Line 51 to Amsterdam Centraal. This looks like a GVB CAF series 50 or 60 train, stopped at Spaklerweg.

vandermadeweg02.jpg (32874 bytes)

Older GVB train coming from Amsterdam Centraal Station, and heading towards Van Der Madeweg. As the destination sign is not visible from this picture, it is hard to tell if it is going to Gein or to Gaasperplas.
