M1.jpg (117616 bytes)

Bordersign along NS Eindhoven-Weert divison. This sign is placed to mark the border between Brabant and Limburg along the NS division Eindhoven-Weert (Near the A2 viaduct, Maarheeze) This picture is taken from the Brabant side. According to an old railway employee, the sign was placed by the railways during the SS (StaatSpoor) period. Who can tell me this is true?

NS/ProRail - The Netherlands
At Blauwkapel the railway lines Utrecht-Amersfoort (southern 2 tracks) and Hilversum-Utrecht Maliebaan (originally continuing to Arnhem/Den Bosch) cross at the level, with a complicated moveable catenary construction. This flat crossing is to be removed at the end of the month and on 14 May special historic trains operated for the last time over the direct Hilversum-Utrecht Maliebaan line.

switch_heating.jpg (112103 bytes)

Main switches in Holland are being heated by radiators below them. Thanks to this feature there are less delays on the railway network. The second switch is a secundary, and is only being used in summer for some semi-fast trains who have to wait till one of the platforms is clear. Zandvoort, winter 2004.
