NedTrain Amsterdam Zaanstraat workshop open day
Electric trainset 252 (Mat'36, built in 1938) has been saved by STIBANS. The external condition of the trainset is very reasonable, but internally it is completely empty! However, there are very serious plans to bring this trainset back to operational condition. It is considered a "missing link" between the historic trainsets that have already been preserved.

NedTrain Amsterdam Zaanstraat workshop open day
Electric trainset 252 (Mat'36, built in 1938) has been saved by STIBANS. The external condition of the trainset is very reasonable, but internally it is completely empty! Historic trainset 252 (type Mat'36, owned by STIBANS) was on display at The Hague central station. It is currently not in operating condition and has no interior. Instead, a small photo exhibition was on display in one of its cars.

Already in the 1930s the Dutch Railways used automatic couplers. With these trainsets could easily be coupled and split, but also the mail cars to which this coupling belongs.

Mail trailer Pec 1902 even has a mailbox for letters. During stops at stations, passengers can mail their letters! This mail trailer was beautifully restored by Stibans.

STIBANS trainset 252 (Mat'36) on a side track of the "Hoogovens" company in Beverwijk. This trainset is currently - January 1996 - being restored in working condition.
