Optio.jpg (63724 bytes)

A large amount of "Optio" cars, standing in St. Ghislain, Belgium. The Optio cars, rebuilt Belgian M2 cars, were used by the private Dutch company Lovers Rail for their service between Amsterdam and Haarlem. After the service was cancelled due to lack of passengers (and Lovers Rail ceased to exist) the cars were moved to Belgium and sometime later to France. 4 december 1999, picture by David Eerdmans - David's RhB pages

Lovers Optio

Brand new interior of the Lovers Optio. For the new Optio train Lovers has bought a couple of Belgium M2 cars and let them rebuild. Lovers is now offering cheaper tickets and more service to compete with the NS on Haarlem - Amsterdam. Lovers was also supposed to run it's own trainservice on Utrecht - Hilversum and The Hague - Leiden but they couldn't make it.

Lovers Optio

The Lovers Optio train pulled by NMBS 2554 and with the 2557 on the back at Amsterdam Sloterdijk on the 20th of October 1998. Lovers has also licences to run trains on Hilversum - Utrecht and Leiden - The Hague but still no Lovers-trains run there. If Lovers still doesn't use the licence, the gouvernment will perhaps cancel the licence.
