NSB AB7-3 coach at the end of a train to Oslo in Bergen station, 2005-08-12.
The "7" generation of passenger cars was built 1982 to 1989 by Strømmen, with Wegmann bogies. They are 26.1 m long, with a bogie spacing of 18.2 m, and allowed for 150 km/h. The weight varies from 37 to 42 t. The types AB7 (with "NSB Komfort" space), B7 (coach), BC7 (with wheelchair and family compartments), FR7 (bistro) and F7 (luggage) exist, with various subtypes (referring to different gangway types or a bicycle compartment at one end). All these cars have already been refurbished once, and a further refurbishment, with air-conditioning and possible upgrading for 200 km/h, is planned. Today they are used for most long-distance express trains in Norway.
