RESTAURANT-CAR, CLASS Eo No. 980
When the Bergen line - our first tourist line was opened in 1909, the need for restaurant-cars came up, and during the period 1909-1911, 5 such cars were built.
One of these, class Eo no. 980 is preserved at the Railway Museum. The car has a kitchen, a combined washing-up room, pantry, a cashiers kiosk - but no WC.
The foods were cooked on a big coal-fired kitchen-range, and to do the work it was necessary with 7 employees at the same time.
After the car came out of service in 1968 it was restored at the workshop Marienborg before it was transfered to the Railway Museum on the 18th of August 1977.
Each summer season since 1978 it is used for serving of light refreshments to visitors.
