Talgo 350 (Spain)

The Talgo 350 is a high speed train developed by Talgo and Bombardier Transportation. The test unit consists of one power car and six articulated middle cars (including a normal Talgo end car at the other end). Here it is shown during the Eurailspeed train show, on 2002-10-26 in the station Madrid Chamartin.

RENFE has ordered 16 trains (AVE S 102) for the new high speed line Madrid - Barcelona, each with two power cars and twelve articulated middle cars. Each power car has 4000 kW installed power, which allows a regular speed of 350 km/h. The power car (built by Krauss-Maffei in Germany) has been aerodynamically optimized for pressure waves and lateral wind. The passenger cars are very similar to the Talgo 7, with a newly developed suspension.

In accordance with the tradition of locomotives dedicated to Talgo service, the power unit of the Talgo 350 prototype train is named "Virgen del Pilar".
