Funicular dos Guindais at Porto (Portugal). Lower station at the Riveira Quarter, near the Luis I Bridge. Open in 1891, the line was closed only two years later due an important accident. More of 100 years later, in 2004, was re-opened, being currently operated for the Metro do Porto Company.

This funicular in the heart of Porto operates from lower station Ribeira (at the level of the Douro river) to the plateau of Batalha. The first part is rather steep (up to 45%) while after the crossing loop the line is almost flat.
