Estação do Carregado. Vista do novo traçado (as 2 linhas da esquerda) e do antigo traçado (as 2 linhas da direita) da Linha do Norte. A linha da esquerda do antigo traçado foi cortada na zona da plataforma. Mas a linha da direita do antigo traçado está ainda activa, sendo utilisada por comboios de mercadorias. Como podem ver, o novo traçado da Linha do Norte está mais alto do que o antigo. De facto todo o novo traçado entre as estações de Castanheira do Ribatejo e Azambuja foi construído assim para evitar a interrupção da linha por causa das inundações, já que se localiza numa zona sensível.

The left track of the old alignment has been cut-off in the platform area, whereas the right track of the old alignment is still operational, beeing used by freight trains. As you can see, the new alignment is higher than the old one. In fact, the new alignment between Castanheira do ribatejo and Azambuja stations was constructed like this to prevent the traffic interruption caused by flooding, as this is a sensitive area.
