This is the first class 60 locomotive built in 1959 by SLM Winterthur. It was the first locomotive from a series of 2489 units! It was designed in 1956 and built in 1959, using a 2100 HP Diesel engine built by Sulzer Witherthur, electric equipment built by BBC Baden and mechanical parts by SLM Wintherthut. Other 5 locomotives were delivered to the Romanian Railways in the same year, then the production was asimilated by Electroputere Craiova, with Diesel engine made in Resita and bogies made by Caromet Caransebes.
The 060-DA-001 was retired at the end of the '80s and preserved inside Dej Yard. The enthusiastic employees of the yard save it then and manage to restore it to its original condition (except the Diesel engine: a Romanian-built engine was installed) in 2008. It was displayed at the Romanian Railway Days in 2008 and 2009.

The first class 60 diesel locomotive in Romania. The first modern diesel engine built for CFR was 060-DA-001. It was built in 1959 and is a part of the batch of six diesel locomotives produced for CFR, in Switzerland. Another group of 10 locomotives was built, under license in Romania by "Electroputere". According to a catalog of "Electroputere" factory, the first 10 locomotives where built in 1960. The last class 60 diesel locomotive was built in 1981 and has the number 60-1407. The total number of diesel engines built for CFR reaches 1407 pieces. Another 160 pieces where built for industrial entreprises. Also a number of 422 engines where built for Bulgarian railways (BDZ) and 130 for Polish railways (PKP). The locomotive is powered by a 2100 hp diesel engine, can reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h and weights 117 tons.

Back view of first romanian 2100 Hp diesel locomotive exhibited in Dej railway depot. The loco was built in 1959 in Switzerland and arrived in Romania in 1960. It was active till 1994, when it was restored and exposed in Dej depot.

A 60-0388-3 pályaszámú (most épp normálnyomközű) Sulzer Halmiban
Mögötte a 60-0926-4(?) pályaszámú, széles forgóvázas társa áll. Csak helyi tolatást és a széles iparvágányok kiszolgálását végzik, a határon át ukrán mozdonyok járnak. Ezért a román Jimmy Nevetlenfaluban különlegesség volt, csak sajnos nagyon rosszak voltak a fények a fotózásához.

Manufactured in 1966, the locomotive is now with CFR marfa (CFR freight) and was photographed in Campina railway station. They are becoming quite rare on Romanian railways.
