New CFR class 96 DMU in Bucuresti Nord station. 10 DMU's where bought form Germany and are now operating on CFR owned railway lines. 96-2005-5 was just retreating to depot after its usual run to Iasi. Because of this the dispaly said "Please don't climb aboard".

CFR DESIRO unit 96-2005-5 has just arrived in Bucuresti Nord station with an IC train from Targoviste. This one of the latest line where the DESIRO units are used. In fact the traffic started on 19.04.2003. Now there are two pairs of DESIRO units working on this line.

96-2005-5 CFR newly bought Desiro type DMU in Bucurersti Nord railway station. New Desiro type DMU's are currently being imported form Germany. Although they are designed to be used on secondary non/electrified lines, CFR is using them as fast trains on electrified main lines. Till now 10 DMU's have arrived and they are currently working on Bucuresti-Craiova and Bucuresti-Iasi routes. All 10 DMU's are registered to Bucuresti Calatori depot. They are registered in class 96 which was formerly used by romanian prototype DMU's built by MARUB Brasov. The DMU's are nicknamed "Sageata Albastra" (Blue Arrow) as a reminder of the romanian DMU prototype intended to run between Viena and Constanta. The units are equipped with two 275 kw engines linked to a mechanical transmision. The vehicle can reach a maximum speed of 120 km/h and weights 68 tons.

This train (and all other trains on route Bucuresti Nord - Balotesti) is called ,, Henri Coanda Expres" (with one "s"), because from PO Aeroport H. a minibus (freight van converted for passenger traffic) or two (depending on the number of passengers) can be taken to the "Henri Coanda" International Airport. You can by a combined ticket for train+minibus or, if you don't want to go to the airport, you can use the train as normal regional train for the stations on the route.
