<br>The 1VB trams were used to carry ballast in the '80s from the loading stations to the construction sites. They were converted from Electroputere (Ep) 4 axle trams. At least one was ,,modernised" like the normal Ep cars (they became Ep/V3A with V3A boogies, controller, electrical resistances and pantograph) and it became 1VB/V3A. I don't know if there were many modified like this one, but this is the only one left. After the "modernisation", it was converted into a track grinder and can be seen working at night. A normal passenger Ep/V3A car (number V02) was also modified into a grinder. Both can be found at "E.I.E.L.C.C.- Sectia Linii" 's yard near Titan Yard. "Sectia Linii" (Tracks department) is a department of R.A.T.B. responsible for track maintenance.
