| SJ BC2D No. 50 74 58-73 793-3 at a siding in Berlin- Lichtenberg, 2002-04-25. Evening photo taken at low light. This car is part of the Berlin-Night-Express from Berlin to Malmö, operated by GVG with SJ cars. The "D" in "BC2D" means that this car has a special permission to go to Germany (it is not RIC compliant and exceeds the normal loading gauge). tbk |

Comparison between the angular 1980s design of the
SJ couchette coach
BC4 No. 3474
(left, with sliding doors) and the rounded 1960s design of the sleeping
coach WL1 No.
5016 (right, with slam doors), about twenty years older. You can also
see the differences in livery - the BC4 has a blue stripe above the
windows, the WL1 is all black to the roof edge.

SJ couchette car (Liggvagn) in Göteborg, July 1996. This is a
different construction than other SJ cars (probably to have more space
in the compartments). You can also see the overhead wire span bridges
used in Sweden.

Corridor side. 27 of these cars were built 1990 to 1992 by Kockums.
11 two-bed compartments, each with private bathroom (toilet, shower
and sink). Both SJ and connex operate this type today.
It's great to have private bathrooms, but the small windows are a
disadvantage. This was improved in the WL6.
