S-SJ 50 74 85-73 220-4 RB7 (5220). Six cars were rebuilt
from BFS9 2013 to 2015 and now have a wheelchair lift,
accessible section, bistro, seating and playroom.

Trafikverket R12 5188 (S-TRVF 50 74 887 3188-0). The restaurant
cars used between Stockholm and Luleå/Narvik have a long
and varied history. One of originally 25 cars built 1968-1969
by Kalmar as combined restaurant and seating cars RB1, all were
rebuilt from 1985 to full bistro cars R2. Of these, 7 went to
Svenska Orientexpressen and were rebuilt from 2000-2001 with a
retro-style interior, then called R12, operated until 2010. 5
of these were sold to SSRT/Trafikverket in 2012 and got another
new interior, the manual passenger doors were closed so they
only have a loading door and passengers can only get in/out
from other carriages coupled. As such they are now used by Vy
on their lines in Sweden.

SJ restaurant car
R12 No. 5167.
The origin of this car is the RB1 series (25 built 1968 to 1969).
In the 1980s/1990s they were all rebuilt to self-service bistro cars
R2. In 2000/2001 seven of them were rebuilt again with a new
nostalgic interior, now serviced by
Svenska Orientexpressen.

SJ bistro car
R2 No. 5175.
Originally built 1968/1969 as brown RB1 (2nd class/restaurant), they were
rebuilt from 1985 on as RB2 (painted black/red or entirely red).

SJ bistro/cinema car
S12 No. 5441.
In 1987-1988, Kalmar Verkstads AB built 15 self-service bistro cars
type R4. 1994 to 1998, six of them were rebuilt to type S12, now including
a 18-seat cinema with video projector, screen and 18 seats.

Restaurant car type R7
in a connex

In 2003, connex bought 7 cars of type B3 (built in the 1960s) from
the NSB and rebuilt them to restaurant cars with a completely new
interior for their long distance trains to northern Scandinavia.
