The childrens’ railways of Košice is located in the opposite edge of the city but there is no depot, vehicles are repaired here, at the normal gauge depot. After turning the locomotives around, anybody could travel in the cars behind the steamer called Katka on the appr. 200 metres long metre-gauge track.

TU 29.1 in Kosice-Cermel, 1996

So-called Pioneer railways were built after Russian example in former Czechoslovkia since 1950. Until today, one railway in Kosice still remained, and is on service during summer on Saturday + Sunday. This 1000 mm gauge railway has NOT connection to other railways, only one way to reach it is public bus No.14 in Kosice. For service there are diesel engine TU 29.1 or...
... or steam loco U 36.003.
