From left to right MAV V63 047 with the night-train Pannonia (Praha-Bucuresti), a ZSSK 350 locomotive with an IC train to Kosice, a regional train toward Kuty and the night-train from Ukraine and Kosice (with a class 210 shunting locomotive about to fetch the through sleeping-car Kiev-Vienna).

Das slowakische Bratislava ist wohl die einzige Hauptstadt der Welt, die direkt an der Grenze zu zwei Nachbarländern (Österreich und Ungarn) liegt. Nahe der Stadt (ca. 60 km) verläuft zusätzlich die Staatsgrenze zu Tschechien. Diese aus historischen Gründen extreme Lage bedingt die relativ große Entfernung zwischen der Hauptstadt und dem Restland, obwohl die Slowakei flächenmäßig zu den kleineren Euroländern gehört. So zum Beispiel die Bahnentfernung von Bratislava über Kosice und Humenne nach Medzilaborce im äußersten Nordosten des Landes beträgt 583 km, während solche nach Tarvisio in Italien liegt bei etwa 450 km. Bratislava Central Station
This is the Bratislava Central Station. This is along a EuroCity line from Budapest, Hungary, to Berlin, Germany, via Praha Holešovice Station. Because Bratislava is a non-header station, the trains direction doesn't change here. This train goes on to Brno (Br&uum;nn) and Kolin in the Czech Republic before Praha Holešovice. Between Brno and Kolin, the sunny weather disappears and is replaced with clouds and as soon as I get to Prague, it starts to snow.
