The first line in Abu Dhabi is a freight line from mines in the desert

headed,
with a spare locomotive also used for shunting at the depot. In 2026
900km of line is finished, to the border of Saudi Arabia at Ghuwaifat
and to Fujairah. 238km more is to be added to Oman under the Hafeet
Rail project.
In June 2026 passenger trains started operating on the Abu Dhabi - Fujairah line. They are operated ty Etihad Rail and Keolis.
