Abu Dhabi is part of the United Arab Emirates. For years there have been plans to connect the United Arab Emirates with Saudi Arabia and Oman with a railway line.
The first line in Abu Dhabi is a freight line from mines in the desert at Shah to Mirfa (depot) to the port of Ruwais. The daily trains are triple headed, with a spare locomotive also used for shunting at the depot.
