Railway Operators in Bosnia-Hercegovina

ZFBH - Zeljeznice Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine

Network length, gauge and electrification (2008):

After the signing of the Dayton Accords to end the civil war in Bosnia, the country was divided into two entities. ZFBH operates in the Muslim-Croat Federation of Bosnia and Hercegovina, while ZRS operates in the Republika Srpska.
Unlike ZRS, which has got only one operational center at Doboj, ZFBH operates three independant networks. Depots are at Bihac, Tuzla and Raijlovac near Sarajevo.
- ZFBH Sarajevo/Rajlovac works passenger train along the (Doboj-) Maglaj-Sarajevo-Capljina (-Ploce) mainline. Regional passenger services exist only on Maglaj-Zenica-Sarajevo-Konjic. Class 441 electrics work most if not all trains.
- ZFBH Bihac operates passenger trains from Novi Grad/Bos. Novi to Bihac and cargo trains on the Una line to the border station to Croatia (Martin Brod).
- ZFBH Tuzla : 6 operational class 661 diesel-electrics are at Tuzla. They work two passenger trains to Brcko and two to Bos. Bijela and freight trains to and from the industries and coal mines around Tuzla. Freight traffic has declined dramtically as a result of the civil war in the mid 1990s.

Since December 2019 Tuzla is no longer served, passenger trains of ZRS end at the (internal) border.
