Network length, gauge and electrification (2018):

IE operates all train services in the republic of Ireland. In 2019 over million passengers travelled wiith IE, 4.3% more than in 2018. The Dublin-Belfast international service is commonly operated by IE and NIR.

In 2010 the Waterford-Rosslare line closed for passenger services, but the Dunboyne line (M3 Parkway-Dunboyne-Dublin) was reopened for passenger services. This line is to be extended to Navan.

NIR operates passenger trains in Northern Ireland (part of the UK), centered on Belfast. In 2017, 15 million passengers travelled with NIR.
